A question for the audience?

I am a resident of the Dallas/Ft.Worth Texas area and have been searching endlessly for any and all information on the "Mother Ship" that appeared over the DFW area in the Spring-Summer of 1986 and then disappeared in a self created fog bank after about an hour or two. It was so large that it could have easily been the size of our whole city. If you held your hand at full extension from your face, the object appeared to be as large as your thumb and yet I would estimate it was somewhere between 50,000 and 80,000 feet up. There was a broadcast later that day on the evening (afternoon) news and all of the weather men were the ones to break the news that it was only a large weather balloon. You could tell that one of the more respected weather men was chocking in anger on his own words (he obviously knew it wasn't).
